Best Sustainable Product/Solution Design: the runners-up

Alltub Group was in the running with For Skin Conciencia con ciencia BB Cream. The 100% recycled aluminum tube is made of 95% PCR and 5% PIC aluminum, while the cap is made of 100% virgin aluminum. It marks the first time that the company has launched an aluminum tube with an aluminum—rather than plastic—cap. Alltub Group says that recycled aluminum saves 95% of the energy required to produce virgin aluminum.
Eurovetrocap entered its Minerbio Mono 18/415 dropper. While classic cosmetics droppers typically combine a PP collar, NBR bulb and glass pipette, Minerbio Mono is entirely made of PP and recyclable at end of life. Using PP for the bulb rather than nitrile halves its weight, says Eurovetrocap, while a PP pipette is 40% lighter than a glass one. Overall, the dropper is 30% lighter.
BEST CSR INITIATIVE WINNER

Heinz Glas took home the prize for its Product Carbon Footprint Tool (PCF) that calculates the impact of all its product solutions (from glass and decoration to plastic closures) to the nearest gram. Used during the new product development phase, it determines the PCF of an individual product, but can also compare two products with different parameters, for example, a different design, bottle weight or decoration process.

Best CSR Initiative runners-up

Ecological Fibers entered the contest for its updated water treatment facility. The company redesigned its waste water treatment system, which no longer uses filter media perlite that would have to be disposed of. The recycled water can thus be immediately used for in-house cleaning, with the company set to save more than 300,000 gallons of water in 2024.
Knoll Printing & Packaging highlighted its new factory in the Philippines featuring a full rooftop solar array. Opened in January 2023, the plant’s 493 rooftop solar panels provide 50% of the factory’s energy consumption.
