Diana VERDE NIETO, Co-founder and CEO of Positive Luxury

Diana Verde Nieto is the Co-Founder and CEO of Positive Luxury. The company helps brands adapt to the new sustainability economy. “We support our clients with expert advice, industry analysis and independent certification, keeping them at the forefront of the world’s rapid transition towards a sustainable future”.  Positive Luxury was founded in partnership with Karen Hanton MBE, founder of toptable.com. The two trailblazing entrepreneurs combined their experience and knowledge to use technology to demystify sustainability and positively communicate a brand’s actions directly to the consumer.

Diana’s entrepreneurial spirit has driven innovation in the way that brands communicate their commitment to social and environmental sustainability, enabling organizations to unlock the value of their investment in this area.
This began with founding the first international sustainability communications consultancy in 2002 which Diana built to international success with a presence in five markets, including China and the USA, at the time of exiting the business in 2008.
Diana holds a degree in Global Leadership & Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School. Diana is a globally recognized figure in the sustainability field, honored by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader in 2011 and subsequently being trained by former US Vice President, Al Gore. Diana serves on many advisory boards, frequently teaches at Cambridge Judge School and Oxford Said School and was recently given an honorary professorship at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Alexandra URIBE

Sustainability Consultant & Carbon Emissions Specialist

CO2RAL 

Alexandra is the founder and project manager of Co2ral, a boutique sustainability consulting agency. At Co2ral, Alexandra focuses on 3 main business streams: conducting carbon emissions calculations, developing sustainability training programs for companies, and devising sustainable product strategies for companies in the personal care sector. From 2017-2020 Alexandra worked at EcoVadis as a Senior Sustainability analyst conducting hundreds of company sustainability assessments, developing EcoVadis’ Carbon Action Module, and helping Fortune 500 clients identify sustainability metrics to track supplier progress.

She is passionate about helping young and small companies find their path to being sustainability leaders in their field. Alexandra integrates product design concepts, supply chain management and customer communications into client-specific solutions and strategies.

Alexandra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College and a Master’s degree in Corporate Sustainability from UC Santa Barbara.

Monica BECKER

Director, Beauty, Personal Care & Household Products

CRADLE TO CRADLE PRODUCTS INNOVATION

Monica is a purpose-driven sustainability expert who has worked across industries and the value chain to implement collaborative industry initiatives on sustainable chemistry and circular economy. As the Director, Beauty, Personal Care and Household Products at the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, Monica is responsible for growth, innovation and impact initiatives in these sectors on a global scale.
Prior to joining the Institute, Monica worked as Director of Collaborative Innovation for the Green Chemistry & Commerce Council where she significantly grew the organization in five major sectors and across the value chain. Monica also designed, funded and managed core projects and programs, and created and led industry collaborations in the Beauty, Personal Care and Household products sectors. These included a competition to identify and accelerate commercialization of novel and safe preservatives involving major retailers, brands, suppliers and other stakeholders, as well as a project to accelerate innovation of alternatives to silicone ingredients. She created the GC3's Startup Network and Technology Showcase Programs and curated numerous workshops and panels at the GC3’s Annual Innovators Roundtable.
Monica was also the former Principal of Monica Becker & Associates Sustainability Consultants, a multi-disciplinary provider of sustainability solutions for business, trade groups, universities, governments and NGOs. Monica held management positions at the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability, the Massachusetts Toxics Use Reduction and Tellus Institutes, and Eka Chemicals (now Nouryon). Monica holds Masters’ degrees in Civil & Environmental Engineering and in Technology & Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

Victor CASALE

MOB Beauty & PACT COLLECTIVE

Victor began his career as Chief Chemist and Managing Director at MAC Cosmetics from the brand’s inception in 1984.  At MAC he gained a reputation as a world-renowned product innovator known for formulating industry icons such as Studio Fix and a portfolio of pro-quality products used by make-up artists worldwide.  In 2000, Victor co-founded Cover FX and supported the development of the brand as Chief Innovation Officer where he was an early pioneer in the vegan and clean beauty movement and created products free from irritants and ingredients that could be potentially harmful. In 2021, Victor and a team of industry veterans co-founded MOB Beauty with a mission to offer pro-quality, clean and vegan color cosmetics in refillable and sustainable packaging solutions. Victor currently serves as the CEO of MOB Beauty.

In addition to his work with MOB, Victor also co-founded Pure Culture Beauty in 2020, a next-generation personalized skin care brand.  Victor’s most recent launch, however, was on Earth Day 2021 with the launch of the Pact Collective.  Victor and MOB partnered with Credo and other eco-conscious beauty industry leaders to launch Pact, a program for hard to recycle beauty packaging that takes responsibility for the beauty industry’s impact on the planet.  Pact is a non-profit membership organization focused on building more sustainable packaging solutions for the beauty industry.
